Rebuild a rotten roof from the frame up

The process
01 — Strip the roof to sound material
3–4 hours
Photograph every trim joint before removal. Pull the corner caps, edge rails, and old sealant, then remove wet wood until your scraper reaches material that is dry and firm.
02 — Build and dry-fit the new frame
5–6 hours
Copy the original dimensions onto poplar and marine plywood. Clamp the frame square before fastening, then test the shell fit with the lift posts still accessible.
03 — Skin, seal, and water-test
1 full day
Bond the skin evenly, reinstall trim over fresh butyl tape, and finish every fastener with compatible sealant. Let it cure, then test with a gentle hose before the first trip.
